New York, NY: Commuters

At Penn Station, Friday morning commuters walk in a glum procession towards their days. I’m on a train headed in the other direction.

Brooklyn, NY: Betting on Oz

Deciding when and where to invest my time and resources to tour is not unlike playing poker. I’m pushing a mountain of chips towards Australia. I’ll spend September, and probably November, over there. I trust my instincts, though it pains me to leave so much behind in the States.

Brooklyn, NY: Garden

Patio gardening — can’t do this while on tour. It’s Memorial day, all of Brooklyn’s basking. Latin music is blasting from an adjoining courtyard. I do however, have tour shell-shock, and keep thinking “I really should invite Kathleen and the band to my grillout.” But I think they’re in Canada somewhere.

Ocean Grove, NJ: Jersey Girl

The minivan hummed with Springsteen all the way down to seaside Jersey and Billy Joel all the way back into New York City at dusk. Strange to be off tour, and be the master of my own movements again. Free falling. Kinda catchy. Might make a great song title.
