After a long-time-no-see, I ran into my cellist friend Marlan Barry at the coffee shop this morning. He walked me down the street to show me around the new recording and post-production studio, Godel String, where he does a lot of engineering. The place was hand-crafted by Marlan and others over several years, and their pride is evident in each piece of moulding and drywall. It houses a little Steinway that sounded chunky and lush. On the walk home I saw Paul’s “M is for Metal” in the toy store window — these days, Australia seems to poke its pretty lil’ nose into my life multiple times a day. (Note to America-dwellers: The rippingly delightful Aussie comedy series ‘Summer Heights High’ hits HBO soonish).
