Dammmn. Tonight, I hereby renew my quasi-matrimonial vows with the lap steel guitar. Legendary Boston player Kevin Barry sat in with us for four songs — the first time either of us has ever played on stage with another lap steel player. (Live video clip isĀ HERE). It was freakin’ awesome for all of us in the room. Jennifer Kimball (whose 90s band, The Story, I loved…and her solo stuff is special) also sat in on piano and sang harmonies with Rich and me. The audience was terrific. It’s been one of those nights where I feel profoundly grateful to be a musician.

Our night at Lizard Lounge in Cambridge is off to a perfect start… After soundcheck, a bubbly gal named Cindy brought us some home-baked cookies. Cookies!

Sailor has once again proven himself utterly irresistable to the press, as evidenced in The Boston Globe’s preview of tonight’s show, written (well) by Jonathan Perry.
