Over the years, in periods where I’ve had songwriters block, sage people have advised me: ‘try a nautically-themed bedspread in the studio.’ Today, I took heed. And was rewarded with a version of Tom South’s ‘Games People Play,’ employing only vocal tracks and hand-tapping.

swampy goodness seethinghundreds n hundreds o creatures! box turtles plunging off rocks and big-billed birds croaking and blueflies skimming the water and hundreds o fish darting in unison. It doesn’t feel like Halloween.

if you were seeing them you’d be photo’ing them. Then you’d look at the pic you took and grimmace at how inadequately it conveys the majesty n’ such.
